The San Francisco based burlesque -heavy rock band, Kat Robichaud and The Darling Misfits have released a brand new music video. Apple Pie and The Knife is an anthem that fights the unfair epidemic of "slut-shaming" (accusing a woman of being over-sexualized for dressing or acting in a certain way, and sometimes, for no reason at all).

"The Apple Pie and The Knife" is based on my experiences as an aggressive female rocker on The Voice. I behaved the same as some of my male counterparts, but because I'm a woman, it was the double-standard and I got called out, mostly by women, for being boisterous. I was too aggressive on stage. My shorts were too short. "Who did I think I was?" I made the video because I want little girls growing up to know that they don't have to fit into this subservient box and that can be themselves without questioning themselves, regardless of their sex."  -Kat Robichaud

Robichaud made it into the top 10 on the popular televised singing competition, The Voice. She apparently didn't have an amazing experience on the show, but we still love you, Kat!

You can see Kat Robichaud and The Darling Misfits perform live at The Stork Club in Oakland TONIGHT with VOWWS, Survival Guide and Sister Grizzly. This is an amazing line up that will be performing at a grungy rock club in the Oakland. We can guess that the show is going to be raw, in your face and completely unpredictable. That's what rock and roll is all about!

Hailing from the Greater Toronto Area, a 6 piece psycadellic-garage-pop-rock band, The Auras. I recently found a copy of their EP2 from 2014 and was thoroughly impressed with their catchy tripped out jingles. Listening to the 5 song EP takes you on a ride through the solar system of your mind. It keeps your attention as much as it makes you completely zone out. More recently they have released another EP alongside singer Tess Parks for the track "I Believe In Everything" and her lazy vocals in this track fits the Auras...aura. You won't be able to keep up with all the noise action that comes around so beautifully together. If you're into the whole shoegaze thing you'll dig the Auras and you can see them LIVE at Lee's Palace tomorrow opening up for Ringo Deathstarr.                    - Kris 'Big City' Gies

MMMmmmmmmmyayah, some heavy shit for ya up in this hot ass week. We here at The Deli dig showin' off some of the genres that aren't always as much in the limelight in Austin as others, and so we're gotdamn pickled to be able to throw you some good ole damn ole hard rocking music today, compliments of Big Chords and Shoutyscreams act We'll Go Machete. These guys released their first album in a while, the (we assume) jokingly titled Smile Club, on July 7, and anyone who was ever into post-hardcore shit like Fugazi, At the Drive-In etc. will eat this shit up they was Jaws from James Bond and metal was a viable foodgroup. There's somethin' artsier and weirder in here as well, with some really strange structures and experimentation with making guitars churn out some fucked up noises, and that the band name checks both Melvins and Slint in the info about this album says a lot about what you can expect. If you gots some pent up aggression and frustration goin' on this summer (who are we kidding, it's 2015, that's everybody) and wanna churn and burn along with some fucking music from the heavy side of the city, you can't do better than Smile Club.

Red Flannel Hash, the latest record from Burlington, VT's Black Rabbit, is bursting at the seams with enough hard, fast guitar riffs to keep your head bouncing for weeks. My favorite track off the record is "Sayonara", with its catchy chorus and rowdy guitar solo. The song is over so quickly that by the time it's finished, you're left wondering: "what was that and why was it so incredibly awesome?"
