Thee, Idea Men Opening for John The Conqueror at The Boot & Saddle Dec. 20

It’s blues night at The Boot & Saddle! Old souls Thee, Idea Men’s self-told story of their origins as a band is so wrought with sarcasm and ridiculousness that I can’t decide which of it to take seriously (probably none of it), yet this sassy self-deprecation sets the tone for their fun, old-school blues rock jams. The recent Drexel University alums released a new single this past September called “Help Me, Mama,” mixing a Foo Fighters-esque edge with a hint of rockabilly, giving us a taste of their forthcoming second album. They’ll be opening for John The Conqueror, who is gearing up for a jaunt through Europe to kickoff 2014. Rounding out the bill are Fishtown friends Stef Emery and Ryan Gaughan (of Among Criminals) together as La Capitaña. The Boot & Saddle, 1131 S. Broad St., 9pm, $10, 21+ - Maggie Grabmeier

The Deli Philly’s Featured Artist(s) Poll Winner: Thee, Idea Men

Rock ‘n’ roll is not dead. With all the computer-generated sounds and synth-driven beats flooding the internet, you might think that the opening statement is false these days, but it’s certainly alive and well in The Deli Philly’s recent Featured Artist(s) Poll Winner, Thee, Idea Men. Check out our get-to-know-ya interview with them HERE, and catch the trio live on Monday, November 19 at Kung Fu Necktie. (Photo by Matthew Raspanti)
