Echo Park Rising 2015 Lineup Announced

The fifth annual Echo Park Rising has announced the 2015 lineup! The initial lineup includes heavy hitters like Blank Tapes, Dengue FeverRoses, Fever The Ghost, Hanni El Khatib, and Kera and The Lesbians as well as Deli features Media Jeweler, Liphemra, Tennis System, Winter. More acts will be announced in the coming weeks.

Celebrating local music, arts, and small businesses, Echo Park Rising transforms several bustling routes into a summer weekend block party, with events happening through the afternoon and into the night. Yearly participants of Echo Park Rising include iam8bit Gallery, Stories Books and Café, Lot 1, The Echo/Echoplex, Bedrock LA studios, and the signature French restaurant Taix which sits at the crossing of Sunset Blvd and Park Ave. The event is free and all-ages (sans spaces that serve alcohol), but Echo Park Rising is currently offering VIP 3-day passes for exclusive viewing access, line-skip privileges, easy bar access, and limited-quantity souvenirs. VIP 1-day passes will be available when full lineup is announced.

Echo Park Rising was created in 2011 by several club and business owners to quickly replace the Sunset Junction festival, according to LA Times. Last year's festival included performances by Cherry Glazerr, Allah-Las, Crisis Arm, Bur Gur, and Tapioca and the Flea. Sound advice: avoid parking near the lake on afternoons. - Ryan Mo

Clean up at Dirty Laundry TV's Summer Fest 6.21.15

2k15's summer fest game is getting stronger by the week: indie music web series Dirty Laundry TV hosts its own Summer Fest, happening this Sunday from 1:30 PM till 12 AM at The Satellite.

Mainstage performers include triple-threat Rob Zabrecky + members of Possum Dixon, Mike Watt & The Missingmen, Colleen Green, Kera and The Lesbians, Deep Fields, and more, with Sunshine Mind and Gateway Drugs just recently added on.

There will also be an acoustic side stage featuring Samira of Winter, Nima of So Many Wizards, Los Angeles Police Department, Bobby T. and the Slackers, and Joel Jerome, to name a few.

And last but not least, your event DJs Andrew King (Crystal Antlers), Mariana Timony (Lo-Pie), and McAllister (KXLU 88.9 FM) will round out the moshpit and dance floor all day and night.

This event has NO advance sales; tickets are $10 before 6 PM and $12 after. Yes, you'll get in, especially if you come out in the daytime (but not if you're under 21). There will also be a swap meet with local vendors and labels like Danger Collective Records and Porch Party Records, and food by HACHÉ LA —best burgers imo.

Not sure who's on the list/too lazy to look them up? Hype yourself with Dirty Laundry's Spotify playlist of Summer Fest artists!

About Dirty Laundry TV: created in August 9, 2009, Dirty Laundry TV started as laundromat interviews with bands like The Pains of Being Pure At Heart, Local Natives, Warpaint, Surfer Blood, and more.It has since grown to include curated shows at local venues, compilation releases, event coverage, and general Los Angeles badassery. - Ryan Mo

Make Music Pasadena 2015 sets a high bar for SoCal summer fests

Saturday opened with an overcast morning that blossomed into balmy summer weather for downtown Pasadena — with an expected turnout of over 50,000 the conditions were perfect for this year's Make Music Festival. Parking was ample and spread out: structures capped event parking at $20, and streetsmart locals snagged meters on Raymond Ave. and others. Food and drink were plenty with specialty trucks lining major streets. Every café, restaurant, and pub had all hands on deck to offer a cornucopia of tastes from lobster rolls to microbrews and milk tea. Six main stages were raised mere blocks away from each other and nearly two dozen venues dotted around them, delivering folk and punk and alt rock and blues. With pop-up shops on every other curbside, and even good vibes from security and the boys in blue, any SoCal music fan would have wondered: why aren't more cities getting in on Make Music?

But if you were holed up last weekend, don't worry — The Deli got down and dirty in the press pit to bring you photos of some great acts throughout the day. Beach balls and sunburn aside, Old Pasadena lined up some of the best performances of Make Music's history, and we are grateful to have covered it.
