Frankie Cosmos

A record we missed in 2017: Lexie (side project of Frankie Cosmos and Warehouse)

Lexie is a collaboration between NYC's bedroom pop chanteuse Frankie Cosmos and two members of Atlanta's Indie Rockers Warehouse (Alex Bailey and Doug Bleichner). The trio quietly released this side project's 8 track debut “Record Time” in June of 2017. The album, recorded with Carlos Hernandez of Ava Luna, lives up to both band’s past achievements, although it's obviously more skewed towards Greta Kline's intimate pop format. Those who are in desperate need of new material after enjoying 2016's sublime "Next Thing" should check it out. - Cameron Carr, photo by Sarah Cass

Frankie Cosmos extends world tour + unveils video for 'Sinister'

Frankie Cosmos was rewarded with a NYC Record of the Month at the time of 'Zentropy' (2014), and graced the cover of the 2015 issue of The Deli as a member of the band Porches, but her latest LP 'Next Thing' is certainly the height of her career as a songwriter - a consistent record full of memorable songs and heart-felt words. The project's mastermind Greta Kline and her band are about to embark on another round of US tour dates including a homecoming sold out show at Bowery Ballroom on August 6th, and more world tour dates have been announced today. A new video Sinister" was also unveiled today, one of the best singles from her latest album - check it out below.

New(YC) Releases: Homeboy Sandman, Emefe, Mutual Benefit, Olga Bell and Frankie Cosmos

Here's our usual, "blurbless" appointment with tracks recently released by NYC based artists that are either "not so emerging" (but also not so famous!) or have already been covered a lot in the past in ths very blog, enjoy!

A slew of Brooklyn bands play 1.21 Gigawatts fest on July 17-20

It looks like the 1.21 Gigawatts crew managed to grab every single decent to good to great indie rock band that’s up and coming in Brooklyn today for their upcoming 4 day yearly festival at Radio Bushwick on July 17-20: Bluffing, Big Neck Police, Infinity ShredSunflower Bean, Shark?, Tonstartsbandht, Celestial Shore, The Gradients, hell they even got Fiasco on the bill?! I remember listening to Fiasco in high school wishing I was cool enough to go to their shows, but back then I wasn’t in it for the music as much as trying to find an identity in this fucked up city we call home (calling all high school indie rockers: don’t be ashamed, you may not be old enough to drink yet but you are allowed to fuck up as many times as you want, so go to these shows, maybe you’ll get lucky and they won’t draw the X’s on your hand too deep!)

There will be also teen indie folk talent and recent Deli Record of the Month Frankie Cosmos. I could keep going, but the bottom line is that 1.21 Gigawatts is having a fun party with lots of talented NYC artist - I'll be there! - Jake Saunders

Recommended show tonight (06.11): PORCHES and Frankie Cosmos live at Baby's All Right

Band mates and friends Porches and Frankie Cosmos - whose latest releases were recently The Deli's Record of the Month (here and here) - will be performing live tonight at Baby's All Right in Williamsburg together with Kevin Morby from The Babies. Lots of true and fresh talent here, definitely a show not to miss for those seeking new music.
